In recent years, the number of reactions performed utilizing continuous flow chemistries has grown substantially. This growth is best witnessed in the use of flow chemistry processes to undergo chemistries that are too problematic to be handled at a larger scale by batch reactions, including potentially hazardous reactions such as nitration, hydrogenation, oxidation, halogenations, carbonylation and Grignard reactions. Additionally, flow chemistry is an excellent technique for process development as it lends itself readily to changing reaction parameters like time, temperature, pressure, reagent ratios, concentration levels and the mix of raw materials.
